Frequency settings stop visitors from seeing the same notification too often. They live on the Timing tab under Frequency Control.
Pair with When Should the Notification Show? (trigger) and Display Duration (how long it stays open).
Show frequency
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Always Show | No session cap. Can appear on every page load (still subject to display rules and dismissal settings below) |
| Per Session | Limits how many times it shows per browser session |
Per Session is the default and works well for most promos.
Max shows per session
When Per Session is selected, set Max Shows Per Session (1 to 10).
Example: 4 means up to four impressions per session across tabs and page refreshes.
After the limit is reached, the notification stays hidden until 30 minutes pass without a show or manual close. Each show or close starts a new 30-minute window.
Respect user dismissal
Respect User Dismissal (on by default): if the visitor closes the notification manually, it will not show again during that session.
Turn off only if you intentionally want repeat prompts (use carefully).
Clear session on logout
When Per Session is active, Clear Session on Logout resets counters when a logged-in user signs out. Useful for member areas where a new login should see fresh prompts.
Allow re-trigger after hide
Allow Re-trigger After Hide lets the same notification appear again on the same page after it was hidden, without a full page reload.
When enabled:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Retrigger Delay (seconds) | Wait time before it can show again |
| Max Retriggering Per Page | Cap repeats on one page (resets on navigation) |
Leave this off for standard popups. Turn on for multi-step flows or templates that hide and show content on the same page.
Display duration (same tab)
Above Frequency Control, Display Duration controls how long the box stays open:
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Manual Close Only | Stays until the visitor closes it (template needs a close icon) |
| Auto-Hide Only | Disappears after X seconds automatically |
| Auto-Hide + Manual Close | Stays up to X seconds but visitor can close sooner |
Set Auto Hide Duration or Persistent Duration based on your choice.
How frequency fits together
Page visit → Show timing fires (delay, scroll, etc.)
→ Schedule allows today?
→ Under max shows per session?
→ Not dismissed (if respect dismissal on)?
→ Notification appears
