Local templates are notification designs saved on your WordPress site. They are separate from the online gallery on notifal.com.
You manage them under Notifal → Templates: create new designs, import files, duplicate, trash, and export backups.
Marketplace imports also create templates linked to notifications. See Importing a Template from the Marketplace for that flow.
Open the Templates screen
- In WordPress, go to Notifal → Templates.
If you have no templates yet, you see creation options (HTML Builder, Elementor, Block Editor, or Import). See the builder guides:
- Creating a Template with the HTML Builder
- Creating a Template with Elementor
- Creating a Template with the Block Editor
Template list overview
When you have at least one template, the list shows:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Title | Template name (click to edit in its builder) |
| Category | Template grouping, if set |
| Builder | HTML Builder, Elementor, or Block Editor |
| Date | Last modified date |
Use the search box to find templates by title.
Status tabs
Tabs at the top filter by status, similar to WordPress posts:
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| All | Every template except trash |
| Published | Live templates ready to assign |
| Draft | Saved but not published |
| Trash | Templates you moved to trash |
Duplicate a template
Duplicating is the fastest way to reuse a design:
- Hover over a template row.
- Click Duplicate.
- Notifal creates a copy with a new title.
Open the copy and adjust the design or assign it to another notification.
Move templates to trash
Single template
- Hover over the row.
- Click Trash.
Multiple templates
- Check the boxes next to the templates you want.
- Choose Move to Trash from the bulk actions dropdown.
- Click Apply.
Trashed templates stay in the Trash tab until you delete them permanently or restore them (WordPress-style row actions).
Empty trash
When viewing the Trash tab, use Empty Trash to permanently delete all trashed templates.
Export templates
Export creates a backup you can move to another site or store offline.
Export one or more templates
- Check the templates to export.
- Choose Export from bulk actions.
- Click Apply.
| Selection | File you get |
|---|---|
| One template | A single .json file named from the template title |
| Multiple templates | A .zip archive named like notifal-templates-export-2026-07-06.zip |
Each JSON file includes the builder type, content, and media references from your site.
Import templates from a file
- Click Create New Template.
- In the modal, click Import Now under Import Template.
- Upload a
.jsonor.zipfile (max 10 MB). - Click Import Templates.
Imported templates are published immediately and ready to assign to a notification.
Only import files from sources you trust (your own exports or official Notifal downloads).
Create a new template
Click Create New Template and pick a builder:
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| HTML Builder | Paste or write HTML, AI-assisted designs |
| Elementor | Visual drag-and-drop (Elementor required) |
| Block Editor | Native WordPress blocks |
| Import | Upload JSON/ZIP from another site |
