This guide walks you through creating a campaign, linking notifications, and turning it on. If you want the big picture first, read What Are Campaigns?.
Before you start
- Have at least one on-page notification ready (or create one first). See Creating a Notification from Scratch.
- Know your promo start and end dates. See Campaign Schedule and Timezone for timezone tips.
Step 1: Open the campaign editor
- In WordPress admin, go to Notifal → Campaigns.
- Click Add New.
You land on the campaign edit screen. It is not in the sidebar submenu; you always open it from the campaigns list.
Step 2: Turn the campaign on or off
At the top you see Campaign active.
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| On | Linked notifications can run when their own Status is on and the schedule allows it |
| Off | Every linked notification is blocked by the campaign, even if each notification's Status is on |
Use this as your master switch for the whole promo. You can also toggle Active/Paused later from the campaigns list. See Campaign Status and Linked Notifications.
Step 3: Name and describe the campaign
- Campaign title , a name for your team (for example Black Friday 2026). Visitors never see this.
- Description (optional) , a short internal note for you or your team.
Step 4: Set the schedule
Below the title you see Current site time with your WordPress timezone. Use it to line up start and end correctly.
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Campaign start | When the campaign window begins. Before this moment, status shows Scheduled. |
| Campaign end (optional) | When the window closes. Leave empty to run until you stop it manually. |
Dates use your WordPress site timezone (Settings → General), the same as notification schedules. Full details are in Campaign Schedule and Timezone.
Step 5: Set priority (optional)
Priority (1–10) defaults to 5. Higher numbers matter when campaign rules overlap in edge cases.
Most sites can leave the default. See Campaign Priority vs Notification Priority when you run several campaigns or many live notifications.
Step 6: Link on-page notifications
In the On-page notifications area:
- Type in the search box to find notifications by name.
- Click a result to add it to Selected notifications.
- Click remove on a row to unlink it from this campaign.
When you save, Notifal links each selected notification to this campaign. Their Timing tab schedule is turned off and the campaign dates take over.
You can also link from a notification's General tab. See Linking a Notification to a Campaign.
Step 7: Save
Click Save Campaign. Notifal validates the schedule (start cannot be after end) and saves your settings.
After save you return to the Campaigns list where you see status, linked count, and schedule at a glance.
Edit or duplicate later
- Edit: Click the campaign title in the list.
- Duplicate: Select one or more campaigns, choose Duplicate from bulk actions, and apply.
- Delete: Use Move to Trash. Notifal unlinks notifications automatically. They keep all other settings.
