This guide covers installing and activating Notifal only. To put your first notification live on your site, read Your First On-Page Notification next.
1. Install the free Notifal plugin
From the WordPress plugin directory (recommended)
- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for Notifal.
- Find Notifal by Notifal.com and click Install Now.
- When installation finishes, click Activate.
Or upload the plugin manually
- Download the Notifal plugin ZIP (from WordPress.org or your download source).
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP file, click Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
Requirements: WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.
After activation
A Notifal item appears in the left WordPress menu. The plugin is ready to use.
2. Install Notifal Pro (Pro users only)
Skip this section if you only use the free plugin.
Notifal Pro is a separate plugin. The free Notifal plugin must stay installed and active.
- Download the notifal-pro ZIP from your Notifal Account.
- Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Upload the ZIP, click Install Now, then Activate.
3. Connect & Activate Notifal Pro (Pro users only)
Notifal Pro uses Connect & Activate. You do not type a license key into WordPress.
- Go to Notifal → License.
- Click Connect & Activate Notifal Pro.
- Sign in on notifal.com and confirm activation for this website.
- You return to WordPress. The License screen shows your license as active when everything worked.
Useful options on the License screen
- Days remaining and expiry date for your license
- Reconnect License if you need to link this site to your account again
- Deactivate License or Disconnect License to remove the license from this site
- Check for Updates to look for a new Notifal Pro version
- Clear License Cache if license details look outdated
- License Manager to open your account on notifal.com
Notifal Pro also checks your license automatically once per day. If the server was temporarily unreachable, use Reconnect License.
