Content Source

Comment Content Source (Pro)

2 min read

Comment content source (Pro) pulls WordPress comments (including product reviews when using WooCommerce reviews) into your notification templates.

Requires Notifal Pro and comment tags in your template. See Comment Tags (Pro).

When to use it

  • "Great product!" review snippets on product pages
  • Recent blog comment highlights
  • Trust toasts with star ratings (when your template displays them)

Setup steps

  1. Use a template with comment dynamic tags (detected on the Content Source tab)
  2. Configure comment restrictions (status, post type, date, etc.)
  3. Save the notification

Notifal picks a matching comment from the pool, similar to products and orders.

Comment filters

Typical options on the Content Source tab:

FilterPurpose
Comment statusApproved only (recommended), hold, etc.
Post typeComments on products vs blog posts
Date rangeRecent reviews only
Multiple conditionsCombine with AND/OR like other pools

See Content Source Filters.

Pair with Smart Targeting (Pro)

On a single product or post, Smart Targeting can prefer comments on that item before widening. See Smart Targeting (Pro).

Privacy and moderation

  • Only use approved comments for public-facing social proof
  • Avoid showing full email or private meta in templates
  • Moderate sensitive content before it can appear in rotating pools
