Retrigger variants let the same notification show different content when it appears again on the same page without a full reload. Each time it comes back, visitors may see another product, order, or post from your pool.
What you need enabled
On the Timing tab:
- Allow Re-trigger After Hide → ON
- Optional: set Retrigger Delay (seconds before it can show again)
See Frequency and Session Limits.
Your template must use a pool-based content type (product, order, post, page, or comment). Static text notifications do not rotate.
How it works
- Notifal builds a pool from your Content Source Filters
- First show uses one random item
- When the notification hides and retriggers, the next item from the pool is pre-loaded
- Requires at least 2 items in the pool for rotation
Variants are prepared in advance so rotation feels instant for visitors.
Example
Social proof toast on a category page:
- Pool: last 30 orders, any product
- Re-trigger every 60 seconds on the same page
- Visitor sees order A, then order B, then order C without refreshing
Pair with Smart Targeting (Pro) so variants stay relevant to the category or product context.
Show duplicate source
When Show duplicate source is OFF, Notifal avoids repeating the same source item in a session until the pool is exhausted. See What Is Content Source?.
For retrigger rotation on one page, ensure your pool has enough unique items.
Limits
- Pool entity types supported: product, order, post, page, comment
- Very small pools (only one matching item) will not rotate
- Retrigger respects timing delays and session limits
